Night Attacks

There have been many times in the past several years when I was abruptly awakened from a sound sleep and was unable to move. In fact, I felt "held down"; unable to speak and there's a strange ringing in my ears. I know that this is a demonic attack because I can sense a presence in the room. These attacks used to scare me because I didn't know what they were; but as I began to grow in the Lord and learn of the power and authority that we have in Christ, the fear has gone. Now, when these attacks take place, (most recently last night) I kind of fight my way out of the hold and call upon the name of Jesus. Eventually I am able to speak, but before then I call upon the Lord from my heart. These attacks used to take place once every several months, but they've come to be more frequent. I pray and plead the blood of Jesus over the house, room and bed, but they still come. My belief is that God is allowing them for a specific reason (a la Job). I'd love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences.

Hi Milton I used to get alot of these attacks when I was unsaved and have only had a couple since I was saved 8 years ago. All I can describe is that when it happens I felt like my eyes were open and I was awake and looking around the room that I am in and I could feel a prescence holding me down too like being pinned to the bed, I would be trying to open my mouth to shout but nothing would come out of my mouth although I felt like I was trying so hard to shout. I used to also wake up at certain times of the night to visit the toilet and would be aware of a presence which made me feel very scared and I have not had that experience for some time too - but I think I can pin these experiences down to fear and the spirit of fear if there was stuff going on in my life that I was not letting God in. I would offer my mind body and soul into the hands of the Holy Spirit before sleeping and proclaim "No weapon formed against me can prosper" and speak in toungues until I went to sleep and have not had any attacks since. Dont know wether that would help you in particular but at least you and I now know we are not alone in these experiences and that we always will have the victory over them!! The devil is a pathetic loser and he knows he cant get to you whilst you are awake so he is tryin the cowardly way when you are asleep. I know that these are pleasant experiences when they happen. I used to pray alot in tongues in my dreams too so maybe you could attack in tounges in your sleep. I am nearly always fighting off the demonic in my dreams, really!! I often get stabbed, slashed and chased but I always win lol!! Last night I dreamt about being hit by a massive tsunami wave when I was in a boat and that is another dream I have frequently - about tsunami waves.

Hi Marie R! Thanks for your response. I agree that this is fear-based. I was blessed in a chat yesterday with Lisa Mann and Lady-Mary and from that, learned that the nightmares as a child (which were demonic attacks too) effected me as a child which has really hindered me as an adult. The current attacks are tied to healing. Jesus is already healing the wounds that were sustained back when I was a 3 year old. I have been very encouraged and uplifted by the comments of the Spirit-filled people in this room! Thanks a lot and God bless....
