Hi Charlotte,
Did you have an additional comment or question. Your reply seemed a bit short. If you have more to say, I'd love to hear it! Patty
Can you give some examples and an explanation of what a generational curse is? Thanks
Note that all families on the earth in one way of another is affected by some generational curses. From the very beginning of time our Father and Mother-- Adam and Eve open the door for curses to come running after us in all types and forms. However, it is noticeable to understand that each family tree has its own particular curses that stands out more than another. Furthermore, no matter whether from our intermediate family line or from our forefathers -- Adam and Eve--the curse came in but Glory Be God -- the curse went out when God sent His only begotten son Jesus Christ -- yoke destroying power of God. Gal 3:13, "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree". And Romans 5:14, "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace". Rom. 6:7, For he that is dead is freed from sin. Sin should not have no more dominion over us because we have been made knew creation in Christ. We reckoned the old man dead buried in baptism in Christ. So, anything that showed up in my generation I now reckoned dead unto me; I am to give curses no legal ground to control me or dwell in my life. The Word of God has renewed my mind in Christ so that I do not even talked about those demonic works that Satan uses to trick and bind the people of God. Thanks be unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Thank you Charlotte. In step one of the PTHTH we take back that legal ground that the enemy has claimed (not sure I understand the terminology of the 'legalities' so if anyone want to explain that concept I'd like to hear that too). I do understand how this all works and have evidenced it in my own life and in the lives of others, I guess I am looking for a more technical explanation of things. So I'll try to be more clear in my questions.

Step one of PTHTH prayers says:

I. Break generational sins and curses
1. I confess and repent of the sin of my ancestors, my parents, and my own sin of ____________________________,....etc...
2. I forgive and release my ancestors for passing on to me this sin and for the resulting curses of ______________ (be specific). I ask You to forgive me, and I receive Your forgiveness. I forgive myself for participating in this sin.
3. I place the cross of Christ between my ancestors and myself....etc....

It's the 2nd part of that that I have a question about...What is the difference between generational sin and a 'resulting curse'? Can someone give an example of a generation sin and the 'resulting curse'? I've worked with similar 'methodologies' if you want to call listening prayer/prayer counseling a methodology, and this is the first that acknowledges a difference between generational curses and generational sin and the one being attached to the other. I guess I'm just looking for a more technical explanation of 'what' it is. Passages from scripture would be helpful too.
The book Prayers that Heal the Heart by Mark and Patti Virkler is very good and will guide you through prayers to get free.

Thank you...loads of good material here and deals with the specifics which is what I was looking for. :)
Betty I love to network. I get together with other counsellors and therapists and we share
our experiences and testimonies. I also work with some secular colleagues ... and it amazes them how GOD really does have all the answers to healing! So exciting and rewarding being a christian counsellor and giving God the glory. :)
I totally agree. Great reply Charlotte. My husband and I have been ministering to a non-Christian lady who is in a captive situation because of a generational curse. We found out that the curse is in her only son's bloodline which took his wife away in January 2011. She has accepted Jesus Christ but still not sure if she considers Jesus as "just another God" or THE ONE & ONLY TRUE GOD, who can completely set her free.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. 2Cor 5:17

I only go back one generation - to Christ. I have been made new and put into a new family. I don't understand the principle (the need for) of breaking generational sins and curses if I am in a different family now.

I haven't read PTHTH. I am new to this group. Any explanation would be nice.
Morgan, you are correct that as believers we are new creations in Christ, however many are still feel the impact of generational sins and curses. Nehemiah 1 is a good example of confessing the sins of past generations. After his confession, the wall was quickly rebuilt. PTHTH will go into greater detail. It's very worthwhile reading if you have continued interest in this.
