Charles B Owen replied to the discussion 'Help me in Hearing God's Voice?'Bro Jon I am so happy for you, being filled wioth the Holy Spirit is a life changing experience, as is being baptized in water in the name of the Lord (God delivered me from the addiction to cigarettes when I got baptized). If you follow hard after Him in the days ahead, feed upon His word, seek Him in prayer, you will never ever be the same---LIFE will open up to you in a powerful way. God is GOOD! Just brace yourself for the trial that the enemy will send your way to discourage you. Know that it is coming (so you won't be taken off guard) but that God is faithful to never leave you or forsake you. The trials will make you strong, so keep your head up and your eyes on Jesus! God bless you!

Ben C. Lunis said… Jon, we have been on travel status for the last few days. Today, we arrived at our winter location in Lake Havasu City, AZ. The RV park we are in even has good reception for internet. Regarding your last email, do not be discouraged if your visualization of Jesus is not what you wish it could be. I am still waiting for our Lord to improve my visualization capability. In the meantime, I center my thoughts upon him, sometimes thank and praise Him, then write down a simple question, like "What would You say to me today, Jesus?" Then I just write down the thoughts that come into my head. Later I evaluate them, but I try not to do it during the thought process. Do not be discouraged, rather, just keep working on this simple process.
Many blessings to you,
Ben
K.Santosh Maruthappa Raj said… Hi Sir,
Sir, I wouldn't call this as a 'religious' belief, to be frank I personally don't believe in religion, because to me it is defined as a set of rules to be followed rather than a relationship with God. And the new covenant, that is Christianity is a relationship with God, for Jesus Christ fulfilled every requirement of the law on the behalf of us who believe. Tongues is a gift from the Holy Spirit, and it is totally scriptural to speak in this gift. In fact, its the very first gift that manifested through the disciples in the upper room before miracles and signs and wonder followed.
Katie Souza's teaching of Hearing from God, is an Mp3 track. Its available for download at www.expectedendministries.com, but it costs 99 cents per track. However, the people who say that the gift of tongues has ceased with the last of the disciples of the early church are called the cessationists. Nothing can be farther from the truth. However, I would suggest the book "The Power Of Praying In Tongues" by Glenn Arekion. I will paste the links of two short interviews of Pastor Glenn Arekion, so that you can get an idea of what I'm saying, and the vitality of this gift. :)
K.Santosh Maruthappa Raj said… Hi Sir, I noticed your question on profile, sir do you pray in tongues? If you do, it activates and sharpens your spiritual senses, and you'll definitely feel like God dropping a thought into your mind or heart and it will flow into a paragraph, at that time you will feel your heart leap in faith or illuminated, something that is really not your idea, many over here have heard such experiences, including yourself, though you haven't noticed it :). And boy was there such accuracy in those thoughts! :D
I have also been listening to Katie Souza's version of Hearing from God, so I'll share a key of what she said in her message, just let me know if it helps, for God keeps His ways simple :),
We need to still our minds before God. And hear him, once we hear Him, we need to immediately flow with the Holy Spirit and continue hearing in faith without reasoning it, if you reason what you hear is from God, you'll be tossed back and forth in confusion, and you are no longer hearing His voice, but your voice in your mind, at that instant you need to stop and blast in tongues violently for 10 to 20 minutes, so that your mind's confusion is stilled and you can hear God again. :)

You beautifully have the basics! The gifts and callings of God never went away except in the religious world. When people, mainly because of their unbelief, did not experience the miraculous side of being a follower of Jesus, they came up with the doctrines that said it went away. This is one of the reasons why our Lord hates religion. Again, He just wants relationships, and out of the relationship flows the miraculous.
The book on the intitiatives is excellent, and perhaps reading it will get you more motivated to dig into the nuts and bolts part of hearing God's voice and seeing visions. Again, I recommend going to How to Hear God's voice by Mark and Patti Virkler.
TV wise, Sid Roth is our favorite. Joseph Prince is sound, while Osteen seems to emphasize the feel good part of Christianity. Since I do not watch him now, I do not know what he does with the Spirit led part of following Jesus. Andrew Wommack has a lot of good information, with a bit of his religious background mixed into it. I have read most of his stuff, so if there is a part you want to pursue, let me know and I will let you know my thoughts on it. John Hagee is sound, but gets very heavy after a while. There are others out there, some are good, some are not. When you see some Tv program, just ask Jesus for His comments about watching it. See how you react. This will give an idea of what to do. Try it.
I recommend that you do the first steps of hearing God's voice. Quieting yourself, focus on Jesus, write a simple sentence like: "Jesus, what would You say to me today". Sit quietly and whatever comes into your mind, write it down. Do not try to evaluate it at this time. Remember, the usual way of hearing God's voice is just a thought in your mind. It won't be any louder than your thoughts. Try this and let me know what happens.
Many blessings to you as you learn and as you are set free to worship Him in Spirit and in truth!

It is so good to hear of your commitment to Jesus! And it is great that you are wanting more of Him. Sadly, too many of our churches block out the supernatural part of walking with Jesus, which should be natural. God does speak to all of us. Following the four keys is a way to recognize His voice. Mark's big book, "How to hear God's voice" provides a lot of good information that helps us hear and see Him better. The book on the initiatives of heaven is also very good, but at this point in time, you may need more of the basics found in How to hear God's voice. You may want to take advantage of the free downloads available at Mark's site, www.cwgministries.org. I have a number of ebooks there, and I feel that the information in Unbelief and Disbelief in the "Western Church" as seen through dialogues with God, will give you a better understanding of what you will experience in the church you are attending. What to do? Just focus on having a love relationship with Jesus. Hearing His voice is a major part of this. When you have questions, please contact me.
We are leaving for the winter in AZ tomorrow, so there may be a few days that our internet access will be limited.
Many blessings to you Jon! Our Lord loves you so much, and you are so special to Him! Keep seeking His face, which means to spend time with Him.
