I wish this forward had circulated through our community months ago, if it had maybe another tragedy could have been avoided. I have no way of knowing if all the details of the human side of this story are true, but the heavenly side is very true. Please pass this on, the message is so important!

Dear Friends,

This is a very sad story, and is unfortunately true. If you are easily offended you might not want to read on, but then not reading on could cost you more than just your life. This, like most things, is really your personal choice.

Did you know that many modern cars, which have electric door locks and windows, could become death traps during a flood or a fire? It is true. When flood or fire shorts out the electrical system of the car, it becomes a death trap. Our rural community found this out the hard way last week, when a local girl drove into a flash flood. The story is heart breaking, and I have told details that make me sick to my stomach. I apologize in advance for telling these things, but if the horror causes you to change your thinking and saves your life; then it is worth the telling. Maybe the details won’t bother you, after all you didn’t know her, just imagine if this were your wife, your mother, your sister, or your child.

She was driving home at night on a deserted country road. She hit the water in the dark. She never saw it coming. She called for help on her cell phone and was told to try to break the rear window. She took off the headrest and tried to use it as a tool to hit the window. (The water pressure on the outside cushions the windows making them harder to break during a flood.) In the dark the cold muddy water began to enter the car, faster than you might think. It was cold, dark, and terribly lonely. Screams cannot be heard under water. No one was around to hear–or help. The 911 call was cut off as the car sunk lower in the water. After the water entered the car it equalized the pressure. However, she was now trying to swing through water to hit the window, thus weakening the effect of the blows.

When they found the car she was in the back seat, it was under 8 feet of water. It was still sitting squarely on the roadway. She had broken both wrists, both ankles, and both kneecaps in an all out effort to break the windows. Pain no longer mattered. Life was all she cared about. This precious young woman couldn't swim, but she fought with her entire being to escape the death trap of the car. We will never know if she could have found a way to the shore. The horror of her death has given nightmares to the entire community. We are a small town group, to quote the song, "every body dies famous in a small town".

Her life was snuffed out by modern technology. In the olden days the locks were manual, the windows opened with cranks, and she would have at least had a chance to try and reach dry land. The more details we learn the more horrifying the story becomes. Last year four girls where out stargazing and drove off into a lake. They all drown as well, and what is worse the question is asked, did they go to heaven or hell. (Life saving car information at the end.)

Some will say, "a loving God wouldn’t allow such horrible things." But don’t you see–He died an even worse death to open the way that no one would have to die without Him. Then He allowed each of us to choose for ourselves. "If" she went to hell–the horror in the car was only the beginning of her agony. "If" she went to heaven–she is comforted and the horror was short lived. The difference is as extreme as it gets, and far more important than her death itself.

I believe she knew enough to cry out to Jesus to save her. That belief changes everything, she died and left her story behind. Her story is her legacy and its effect can pull others into heaven with her. If others have eternal life because she died; then she did not die in vain. I don’t want her death to be in vain! If you don’t know Jesus, then you are in worse shape then you can imagine. Even worse shape than she was in, when she found herself, alone in dark, trapped in a car that was filling with water.

The question is haunting. Even more haunting is the number of people who don’t know the correct answer to this vital question. They don’t know the way to reach heaven. They don’t know the way to find the answer that will bring them eternal peace and comfort.

Contrary to popular belief, there is only one way to heaven. Jesus is the answer. He was not just a great teacher and prophet. He is the only way to get to heaven.

Good works aren’t enough; you see the only thing that matters is a relationship with Jesus. Jesus died a horrifying death–worse than this young woman did. The most remarkable thing is He did it on purpose. He did it to open the way for us to regain relationship and companionship with the Lord.

Even if you are a wonderful person and the only thing you ever did wrong was ignore Jesus; that would be enough to keep you out of heaven. You see Jesus is the owner of heaven, and if you ignore the owner of heaven, you can’t get in. It is really that simple.

So, if you don’t want to die a horrible death, (which any death that leaves you eternally separated from Jesus is horrible) then make Jesus the Lord of your life. It is simple to begin, ask Him to forgive you for your sins. Just say out loud, "Lord Jesus, forgive me for my sins." Then start learning about Him. Ask Him to teach you. There is a lifetime of wonderful things you can learn! Resources are available in America that can teach you. If you received this e-mail use the net to find help. Koinonia Network (a Christian version of face book) is a great place to start.

A life long relationship with Jesus will fix your eternal problem. You will spend eternity in heaven if you make Jesus your Lord and savior.

Finally, to fix your car trap problem, check to see if there are manual door locks on your car. Don’t buy a new car that hasn’t got manual door locks, a lot of models have electric locks and back up manual release buttons, these are a life line. Learn how to operate them. Buy an emergency car tool, (inexpensive found at most Wal-mart type stores in the automotive department) keep this tool on your key ring (it also has other emergency tools). Learn how to operate it, and teach your kids, if they are old enough to unbuckle themselves they could save your life in an emergency!

The marines teach to sit calmly in a submerged car. Mentally prepare yourself. Wait until the car is full of water and you can no longer breath at the ceiling. Take one last deep breath. Then open the door, or break the window and swim to the surface. If you break the window with water pressure against it the water will rush into the car and push against you so hard it will knock the air out of you, it can knock you unconscious and push you back making it impossible to get out of the car.

Whether you live in the city or the country, buying an emergency tool kit could save your life, and those of your loved ones. Learning to love and serve Jesus is even more important, because it will last forever. It will be the beginning of a great new adventure with Him as your Lord. It won’t be all flowers and sunshine. But the end, eternal heaven, is worth all the trials and learning you will go through. Truly, He loves you more than you can know. Reach out to Him and save your soul from eternal separation from the Lord of creation. You will never be sorry.

Much Love,

Your sister IN CHRIST
