Going Beyond What Is Expected

Since I don't have an great understanding of the the law and grace, I'll try not to get outside my understanding. I don't know about you but there has been a war in my life with going beyond what is expected for sometime now. It has to do with repentance and transformation. Everytime I go to God with an issue in my walk with God be it timidity, issues with authority, being more responsible, or the more recent health issues that I have been struggling through, the results always outweight the questions or demands. SO much so even that many of the relationships that I have been involved in actually burst somewhat like Jesus describes as a warning to not pour new wine into old wineskins. (Matt 9:16-17, Mark 2:21-22, Luke 5:36,37). The wine of the new could be contained in the old. The reality of Jesus couldn't be resisted by pride, control and criticism.

It's sad...we try to change to honor the relationship and the very issues that were brought to the surface end up being the end of it as we grow in God!


38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’[f] 39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. 17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
